Chi Flat Iron: The Best Hair Straightener For Busy Girls

By

Flat irons are an absolute must for anyone who wants straight hair, or for anyone who has had their hair professionally straightened and needs to keep it looking as sleek and trim as when it was first done. There are many straighteners on the market these days and it can be difficult to know which the best hair straightener is. One that constantly receives great reviews is the Chi flat iron. There are other brands that also work well, though the Chi hair straightener is both reasonably priced and easy to use; definitely a plus in its favor.

How To Straighten Hair Using a Flat Iron

It is actually simple to use a flat iron to straighten hair, so simple in fact that it can easily become part of your daily grooming routine. Of course, if it is not used properly results will be disappointing and there is the possibility that you may damage your hair.

First, you should always use a flat iron on clean hair.  Styling product residue left on hair can end up damaging the flat iron’s ceramic plates. Plus, your hair will be much more difficult to straighten if it still has this type of residue in it.

You should plan to dry your hair thoroughly before attempting to straighten it. If you apply a flat iron to damp hair, it will cause it to become frizzy and unmanageable. You can apply a smoothing treatment to your hair before you begin to straighten it, look for one that contains Keratin as while it may cost a little more than other treatments it is fantastic for your hair and will protect it from heat damage.

Using large hair clips, divide your hair into sections. You should work on one section at a time until all sections are done. If you are not sure how much hair to put into each clip, gauge it by how large your flat iron is. For smaller bladed irons, make smaller sections. The main thing is that the flat iron can easily handle the amount of hair you are trying to straighten.

To actually straighten the hair you simply close the blades of the iron together and run them smoothly down the entire length of hair.  It is important that you do this quickly as you do not want the hot blades to linger on any piece of hair for too long or it will damage it. Do this for every piece of hair you have sectioned off in clips.

To finish off, spray your hair with anti humidity hair spray; this will keep it from getting frizzy during the day.

Tips for Touch Ups During the Day

If you find that your hair begins to curl or frizz during the day, or if you plan on going straight from work to an evening activity or party, you may want to invest in a mini straightener.  These mini hair straighteners are perfect for doing a little touch up on your hair.  Most are small enough to fit into your purse or handbag, thus they are very easy to take with you wherever you go. They are also helpful for straightening your hair after working out at the gym.

They work in much the same way as the full sized flat iron, though they usually are not powerful enough to straighten your hair after washing and drying, unless your hair is only a little wavy. A mini straightener is not cheap, you should expect to pay somewhere around $50 or so for one, but for many girls with very curly hair they are somewhat essential in order to keep hair looking straight and sleek all throughout the day and evening.

If you want a professional flat iron and you are ok with spending around $140 I would highly recommend the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it heats up to 450f with temperature control, dual voltage, tourmaline ceramic plates with rounded edges which makes it great for also curling your hair. Also has a 3 year warranty. If you are in the US you can buy from http://MyHairStylingTools.com, they are also giving away a free heat matt/carrying case and some heat serum that works really well. If you are in Canada you can buy at http://www.hairtools.ca/. If you do look at other irons make sure to stay away from irons with painted plates (colored plates) these can damage your hair.
