Diet Shakes Make Great Replacement Meals When Dieting

Recent studies have shown that diet shakes are not only nutritious enough to use for meal replacements, but that they actually can help you lose weight. Many women who substitute one or two meals a day with low caloric shakes have a much more optimistic and positive outlook towards dieting in general and they are also able to stick with their diet longer than women who go on strict low caloric diets and prepare their own diet food.

Jump Start Your Weight Loss With Shakes

If you are planning to lose a few pounds and you do not know exactly where to begin, one great place to start is to substitute one or two meals per days with protein shakes. Normally most people find it is easiest to substitute their first two meals of the day with shakes. They are usually very simple to prepare, usually only need to be blended, and you can drink them down quickly.  Then, when you return home from work of an evening, you will have time to prepare a low calorie meal and to enjoy it at your leisure.

Some diet programs are now incorporating shakes as a part of their diet plan with great success. It does not have to cost extra either, unlike some diet programs that offer replacement, pre-prepared low carbohydrate meals, which are actually quite expensive. Most of these drinks are prepared using fresh fruit, low calorie milk or protein powder and sometimes-artificial sweeteners and they are usually very healthy.

It is not uncommon to find that people wanting to diet sometimes lack either the time or the determination to stick to a strict diet plan that requires they make all of their own meals.  Diet shakes are usually very simple to prepare and as such much easier to commit to making on a long term basis than having to carefully weight and measure each piece of meat, fruit or vegetable used when preparing low calorie meals. In short, incorporating shakes into your diet is a great way to jump-start your weight loss and is often the best diet plan to start with.

Diet Shake Recipes and Preparation

Usually all that is required to make a shake, aside from the ingredients you will use, is a blender.  There are many free diet plans online that include quick and healthy shakes that you can use as a substitute for a meal.   Alternatively, you may want to look for recipe or diet books and magazines that include these recipes.

It is a good idea to plan your shakes so that you can have all of the needed ingredients on hand when it comes time to blend up your shake. Suddenly finding out that you do not have what is needed can sometimes result in your hastily grabbing something else, that may not be as healthy or as low in calories, to eat before running out the door to work.

If you have a regular job, yet you would like to replace your lunch meal with a diet shake there are several options you can try. You could pre-mix your shake and take it with you to work providing there is a refrigerator available where you can store it until lunchtime.  You could also invest in a small blender or a hand mixer and make your shake while at work. This is easily accomplished if the ingredients are juices rather than whole pieces of fruit.

Of course, it is understood that the best diets will not work well unless you also exercise.  If you are embarking on a diet, fitness is also very important. You will feel better and your diet will be more successful if you exercise as well as watch your calories.

You should always use water for the base of your shake unless it is your pre-workout shake. Milk will slow down your body's absorption process of that shake. Just my two-cents!
