Blankets are an important part of everyday life. A snuggle blanket is an important item to a child when they are trying to go to sleep or not feeling well. The perfect blanket can be any size, color, or style; the most important thing is that the fabric or yarn is soft. If you are looking to buy blankets the best thing to do is go into the store rather than order online so that you can feel the blankets. Soft Blankets should be manufactured from high quality cotton, wool, or other fabrics.

Kids Blankets

Blankets for kids come in smaller sizes and are extremely soft because of the fabrics that are used. One of the newest and most popular blankets on the market is called a Korean blanket. They are extremely soft which makes them a great choice for small children. Many people believe that Korean blankets are so soft because the fabric is spun from mink fur but this is just a myth. A Korean blanket is made with a synthetic acrylic fabric. It is the high thread count and quality craftsmanship that make it soft.

Thread Count

The softest sheets and blankets usually have a rather large thread count. A high thread count may ensure soft sheets and blankets but it is not really the key factor. Blankets are soft because they are crafted out of high quality materials. Wool and other materials are spun into yarn before they are made into blankets. Having a blanket which is constructed from quality yarn can ensure that the blanket is really soft. The best and softest yarns are very fine.

However, the thread count or yarn quality is not always as important as the overall product. Some manufactures will use this term to lure people into buying a product that appears to be high quality but is not. The best thing to do is take some time to feel the fabric and look at the overall construction of the blanket to determine if it feels like high quality materials.

Fabrics

Organic materials are becoming very popular which means you can find the perfect blanket made from organic materials if you wish.  Most people have heard of Egyptian cotton which is the highest quality cotton on the market. Cotton is the main fabric that is used in most blankets but there are many other types of fabrics that can be used to create comfortable and soft blankets. Wool is another common material that can be turned into a soft blanket.

Wool from the highest quality animal hair can produce some of the softest blankets on the market. A Mohair blanket is created out of yarn that is spun from the hair of Angora goats. It is a trendy fabric that is used to make really soft and silky feeling blankets. However, a mohair blanket is one that you will need to take to the drycleaners; it should never be thrown in your washing machine. Wool blankets are common and should be considered when looking for a quality blanket. Some wool blankets may not be very soft but others like the merino wool make an incredibly soft blanket. Merino wool is spun from lamb hair. When considering a wool blanket the most important factor is how it feels; the key reason for going to the store rather than shopping online for blankets.

Call me slow, but I've never understood the whole thread count deal. You just taught me something new. Useful Hub (so is your baby blanket Hub).

Yeah I was thinking about doing a hub just explaining thread count because there is a whole bunch of stuff people don't know.

Mainly about how companies exploit peoples belief that the higher the thread count the higher the quality all the time every time.

Which just isn't true.
